Dayana Yastremska is still banned from tennis after she tested positive for doping

Dayana Yastremska

Dayana Yastremska was eager to have a great 2021 after a disappointing 2020. Unfortunately, this year might be even more challenging for the 20-year-old that has been suspended for doping. Dayana tested positive in November, but she maintained that there was contamination. Therefore, Yastremska appealed to have her provisional suspension lifted in order to play the Australian Open. The appeal was denied so Dayana will stay out from the first major of the season.

Dayana also sparked controversy for deciding to fly to Melbourne despite the ban as she was hoping for the ban to be lifted. The Ukrainian beauty was also on one of the flights that registered passengers infected by the Coronavirus and therefore she has been enduring a hard quarantine. She can still apply to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (the anti-doping division). It is not clear if Dayana may appeal and be cleared before the Australian Open.
