Tomic, Goffin and Nalbandian rach the secod round in Indian Wells to try to climb the ATP rankings.

Tomic

Still ranked no.45 Tomic wants more. Bernard had a very good January as he won his first ATP title in Sydney, he defeated Djokovic in the Hopman Cup  and he made to the 3rd round at the Australian Open to lose to King Roger. Then he got lost to lose in the openers in Rotterdam and Dubai to reach the 3rd round in Marseille.

So time to keep up with the promises and the Australian started Indian Wells in style defeating Bellucci 6-4 6-3 in just 68 minutes. 5 aces, 0 double faults, no service games dropped and two breaks per set. A very clean performance by Tomic.

Bernard will play Gasquet in the second round.  Head to head is 1-0 for Gasquet that defeated Tomic 7-6 (5) 6-4 in the quarterfinals in Bangkok 2012.

Goffin

Ranked 54, the 22 years old from Belgium defeated Troiki 4-6 6-3 6-4 in 1 hour and 57 minutes. David took full advantage of Troicki’s weaknesses on his 2nd serve (the Serb won only 39% of the points).

Goffin will play Florian Mayer in the second round. This will be the first match between the these two.

Nalbandian

David is ranked 93 and he obviously wants to improve his ranking as soon as possible. It took 1 hour and 42 minutes for the Argentine to defeat Granollers 6-4 6-2.

Nalbandian will play Janowicz in the second round. First match ever between these two.
