Tsonga survives Fish to reach the quarters in Indian Wells

Good effort from Jo that had to defeat once again an American on his home soil.

The match went to the tiebreak twice in the first and second set. Eventually the Frenchman won after 2 hours and 8 minutes. Fish missed his opportunities when he squandered a 4-0 lead in the second set and then he was broken when serving on a 5-4 lead.

From Fish

“I felt like I could have easily won the match,” said Fish. “Bunch of break points obviously in the first set, and the second set was what it was. Tennis wise it’s a good sign that it hasn’t taken too long to get the form back. I usually don’t lose 4-0 sets very often.  I can’t remember the last one. Maybe just not being in that position I’m sure had something to do with it.”

Next vs. Raonic

Jo will play Raonic in the nexrt round (3-6, 6-4, 6-3 on Cilic). Head to head is 1-0 for Tsonga that won their only match in the Olympics 2012 63 3-6 25-23 (!)
