Sharapova willing to keep her winning path also in Miami

Maria is going for more. The Russian has just won the title in Indian Wells to try to win the second one in Miami.

Winning Indian Wells and Miami was achieved only by Steffi Graf in 1994 and 1996 and Kim Clijster in 2005. Queen Maria was close to it in 2006 when she won in Indian Wells to lose in the final in Miami.

From Maria on winning both

“These tournaments are always really tough because they’re close together,” Sharapova said. “As soon as you’re done with the first one  you’re onto the next one and you’re here. I’m looking forward to trying to take it a step further.”

About Miami

Maria left Russia when she was only 9 years-old.

“I have a lot of history here,” Sharapova added. “Miami is the city where I first landed when I came to the United States. I’ve been a fan of this tournament since I was young because I came here with my family to watch it.

“And then I was able to play in it and be a part of it and I’ve been to three or four finals here. So, hopefully, I can lift the trophy here one day.”

Good luck!
