The beginning of this challenging Australian Open wasn’t that glorious. While Tenis Australia put a massive effort into organizing the event, it was very difficult to get ready for every occurrence.
Things started to get nasty when it was announced that 66 passengers of a plane that departed from Los Angeles had to adhere to a strict quarantine without the opportunity of training for 5 hours per day. The reason for the strict confinement was that 2 people on the airplane were found positive for Coronavirus.
Unfortunately, the passengers of a plane coming from Abu Dhabi had to stand the same fate as 1 person was found positive. That means that some top players will need to be confined in their room for 14 days. Some of them are Bianca Andreescu, Dayana Yastremska, Marta Kostyuk, Maria Sakkari, Ons Jabeur, Belinda Bencic, Paula Badosa, Angelique Kerber, Svetlana Kutsnetova and Sorana Cirstea.

Now the world no.29, the Ukrainian played her last match on the 9th of November 2020 when she lost to Greetje Minnen 6-4 6-3 in the 1st round in Linz (draw).
Bianca Vanessa Andreescu and Dayana Yastremska have never played each other.
Marta Kostyuk in 2021
Currently the world no.99, the Ukrainian played her last match on the 12th of January when she lost to Veronika Kudermetova 7-6(8) 6-4 in the semifinal in Abu Dhabi (draw).
Currently, during this year Kostyuk has a 4-1 record. Marta Kostyuk’s latest run in Abu Dhabi was the best achievement of her season.
Maria Sakkari in 2021
Ranked no.22, Sakkari played her last match on the 12th of January when she surrendered to Aryna Sabalenka 6-3 6-2 in the semifinal in Abu Dhabi (draw).
Until now, during this year the Greek has a 4-1 match record. Maria Sakkari’s latest run in Abu Dhabi was the best achievement of her season.
