Tough opener for Novak. The Serb wasn’t even sure to be fit enough to play this tournament because of his injury to his ankle to face a tough Youzhny in the opening set.
The world no.1 didn’t start well to lose the first set 6-4. Then Novak found his way back to win the last two 6-1 6-4 without playing at his best… but being able to play was just enough.
