Serena Williams wins Madrid opener in straight sets

Sluggish start from Serena in Madrid as she was battiling with the world no.89 in the opening set to win at the tie break. Then the American went back to her best tennis in the second set to win 6-1.

As the many other players Serena was quite please with the quality of the courts to comment “I think these clay courts are really good. I think they’re a little bit faster than the ones I was practicing on in Paris. For me, that’s always a good sign.”

Serena will play Domingez Lino in the next round. Head to head is 2-0 for Serena.
