Serena Williams demolishes once again Sharapova to win in Madrid

Unstoppable Serena wins yet another title. The world no.1 didn’t reach a final on red clay since 2002 (!) when she beat her sister Venus to win her first and only Roland Garros title.

With this title Serena enters a small club of 10 women to have won at least 50 tournaments.

The final was a one way traffic with Serena breaking Maria 5 times to drop her service only once. Eventually the American won 64 points vs. Sharapova’s 43.

From Serena

After winning the title Serena had some thoughts about eing sidelined for some injuries for some time. “I don’t know if it’s because of what I went through. I just feel like I’m so fortunate to be out there and healthy and to have an opportunity to play something and be really good at it.”

From Maria

The Russian beauty doesn’t beat Serena since 2004. “Thank you to everyone for being so supportive in every single match,” commented Sharapova.“It was quite special and I wish I could have gone an extra round but there are many more years for me. Congratulations to Serena for an excellent match and her excellent week as well.”
