Coco Gauff had a smashing start to her 2021. The American sensation dismissed Ulrikke Eikeri 6-0 6-1 after playing a solid match in the first round in Abu Dhabi. The conditions in the Middle East are not great as there is a lot of wind. However, Coco revealed that she is used to that kind of situation as she is used to training in the wind.
Coco commented:
“Me living Florida, it’s super windy so I’m used to playing in weather like this. It was just about adjusting to the ball and the first serve, playing aggressive. These courts are kind of fast so I knew if I could get the first two balls pretty deep in the court the point will open up for me.”
Coco will play Maria Sakkari in the following round and she might have the chance to face off against Sofia Kenin in the quarters. However, she had a rather horrific draw and therefore she needs to reason match by match.
