Outrageous Nadal triumphs in Rome!

Wow stuff from Rafael Nadal that literally dismantles Roger Federer 6-1 6-3 in just 68 minutes to win his 6th 2013 title.

Roger’s match lasted only one game… the first! Then Rafa won the next 9 games in ominous fashion to find himself 6-1 3-0 up in no time. The the first set was something embarrassing as the Mallorcan got it in just 23 minutes!

Roger was completely out of sync and it was clear that Rafa had him from a mental point of view. Rafa was in full control, Roger was trying to rush the rallies a bit too much.

In second set Roger managed to get on the scoreboard when he was 0-3 down, then the set went to the inevitable conclusion: Rafa conquers Rome for the 7th time… unbelievable!

From Rafa

“If you told me four or five months ago that after eight tournaments I would have won six titles from eight finals, I would say you are crazy,” commented Nadal, “To win three Master 1000 and two 500 tournaments is more than I ever dreamed. “

From Roger

“It didn’t go how I hoped and I was missing too many easy forehands and crucial points,”

“He does an incredible job returning from the back of the court and it is hard because he covers the court so well. You need to serve accurately. When Rafa is at his best he creates opportunities in rallies and dictates. It was difficult to change.” said the Maestro.

With this win Rafa got his 56th career title, 24th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title, his 6th title ion 2013 and his seventh Rome.

If somebody had a doubt regarding Rafa coming back… well… he has the answer!
