Nadal celebrates his birthday with a convincing win against Nishikori

The King of Clay had a perfect day!

Rafa beat Nishikori in great fashion, he found his tennis after a not convincing first week and he celebrated his 27th birthday!

Nadal wan’s happy about his performance in the first 3 matches when he has dropped the first set in the first two, to struggle again in the opener against Fognini in the 3rd round.

Today Rafa … was Rafa. No place to hide for Nishikori that was clearly outplayed by the Spaniard to fall in straight sets.

From Rafa

An elated Nadal commented “I played much better today than the first three matches, no doubt about that,

I started to have feelings with my forehand when I had a chance to hit my forehand. I started to change directions well. I started to feel that I can hit the ball longer and am having more confidence in every stroke.”

Next vs. Wawrinka

The King of Clay will face a very dangerous Wawrinka in the quarters. The Swiss rallied to win an epic 6-7(5), 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, 8-6 over Richard Gasquet.

Rafa has a very good head to head record against Stan as he leads 9-0 without losing a single set.
