Murray beats Mahut and Matosevic in the same day to reach the quarters in London

Long day for Andy that gets to the quarters with a double win.

It has been almost one month that Scott was not playing a match to have a “crash” return.

The first match was played in the morning as the day before it was not completed because of a rain delay (not a news… we are in London!). The second match was a quick one as it took only 56 minutes for Andy to beat the Australian Marinko Matosevic.

From Andy

“I thought the first match it was pretty high standard of grass court tennis. [Mahut] volleyed extremely well today. He made a lot of good pickups, and I just managed to come up with some good passing shots at the right time in the tie-break.”commented Murray,

“But this afternoon, it was hard to judge. It was so windy out there.  You couldn’t strike the ball that clean or really go for the lines. You just had to play high percentage tennis.”  he concluded.

Next vs. Becker

Andy will play Benjamin Becker in the quarters. The German, ranked 105, has defeated Dolgolopov 7-6(5), 7-5.
