Solid Nadal beats Ferrer in Rome to reach the semifinal

Another match another win for Rafa against David Ferrer. The Mallorcan proves once again to have an edge against his friend and compatriot to win in 3 sets and bring his personal record against Ferrer to an uncontested 19-4 lead.

The bad point for Rafa is that this match ended after 2 hours and 46 minutes and if you couple this with the previous day’s match against Gulbis that lasted 2 hours and 37 minutes… well this could prove no good for his battered knee (we hope not!).

From Rafa

“I played a great match against a difficult opponent. In the worst moment in the third set, I played my best tennis and I am happy,” commented Rafa

“He is a fantastic player and a big example for the kids , fighting and correct on the court… This victory for me is very special.”

Semis vs. Berdych

The good news for Rafa is that he doesn’t have to play an epic against Novak Djkovic in the semis as he will face Berdych that managed to win an incredible match against the Serb. Head to head is 13-3 for Rafa (4-0 on clay)  that has won the last 12 matches.
