Alena Vesnina is getting there!
After losing 7 finals out of 7, the Russian has found her way in 2013 to win the 2 finals she reached in Hobart and now in Eastbourne.
The final was a one way traffic with Elena conceding only 3 games to Jamie Mapton in 76 minutes.
From Elena
“It’s a big honour to win here. I’m very happy right now. My life has changed a bit this season, I’m happy on and off the court. I’m playing well and feeling so good, it’s amazing.” said the Russian.
From Jamie
Jamie Hampton was also happy about the tournament to comment “I was so honoured to be here, it’s been an unforgettable week for me. The wind was tough, but it is what it is. It was the same for both of us, but she handled the conditions much better than I did. She really deserves the title.”
The American had a couple of stunning wins to upset world no.4 Agnieszka Radwanska in the opener and then world no.9 Caroline Wozniacki in the semifinal.
