What a comeback!

There was a strong sense of another upset at the Centre Court in Wimbledon as Andy Murray was curiously 2 sets down against a very good Fernardo Verdasco (not known as a grass specialist).

Eventually the third set was an important one as it took only 31 minutes for the world no.2 to win it 6-1 to make Andy’s  comeback less improbable.

In the 4th set Murray played a good and solid tennis in the important points as he saved all 4 break points conceded to break Fernardo the first and only time asking. Same in the fifth set when Andy broke Verdasco the only time asking in the 11th game.

From Andy

After the victory Andy commented “You’re more concerned about losing the match, not thinking so much that, ‘I’m going to lose at Wimbledon’

You’re concerned how the match is going and that you may lose. But when you’ve been in that position a lot of times, you know how to think through it and not get too far ahead of yourself. I definitely didn’t rush when I went two sets to love down. I slowed myself down, if anything, and that was a good sign.”

The semis against Janowicz

Andy will clash against Janowicz in the semifinal. They have played twice in their career. Head to head is 1-1. Jerzy won the last one in Bercy 2012 when he defeated Andy 5-7 7-6(4) 6-2. This is going to be really interesting.
