Tearful Janowicz reaches the semifinal in Wimbledon

It’s a great Jerzy!

Janowicz comes out with another great performance in a very entertaining match against Kubot to reach the semifinal at the Championship!

This was quite an important match from the Polish tennis that had two players on display in such an important quarterfinal. Eventually it was Jerzy to make it through in straight sets.

The quality of the match was really high with Janowicz blasting 58 winners (30 aces) and only 14 unforced errors. Kubot wasn’t that bad either with 32 winners and 11 unforced errors. Jerzy managed to save 6 break points out of 6 to break Kubot once per set.

After the match was over (2 hours and 7 minutes) the Polish players had a huge and emotional hug at the net.

From Jerzy

“Right now, I’m the happiest person in the world, I made semi-final of Grand Slam, my best result ever. I have in my mind Paris Bercy last year… but this is a little bit different.” said Janowicz.

Talking about the upcoming semifinal against Murray he added “I have to be focused on my game. It will be a really cool match, a really nice atmosphere there. For sure, the crowd will not really help me, but we’ll see how it’s going to be. This is my first semi-final ever, so I don’t know what to expect.”

The semifinal

Jerzy will play Andy Murray in the semifinal. Head to head is 1-1, but the Pole won the last match last year in Bercy 5-7 7-6(4) 6-2. Time for another upset?
