An almost perfect Djokovic gets to the semifinal in Wimbledon.

The world no.1 played a very good match. In the first set both players were perfect and everything was decided by just an unforced error by Tomas in the tiebreak. At the end Nole got the opener winning 45 points vs. Tomas’ 43. (close stuff)

The second set was quite different as Nole’s perfection temporarily faded away and Berdych found himself to lead 3-0 with two breaks! That would have been the perfect answer for the Czech to get back to the match, but then Tomas imploded and Nole went back to perfection to win the next 4 games. Then Berdych committed a horrible error when he was defending a set point when he was 4-5 down to give the set (and the match) to Djokovic.

The third set went by without much drama as it was clear that Berdych had his opportunities in both sets to squander all of them. Time for Nole to cruise and win the 3rd set 6-3.

The devil is in the details and once again Nole demonstrated why he is the world no.1

From Nole

“Generally, it was a very close match and that’s what I expected. Tomas is a very powerful player. We went toe-to-toe in the first set and one shot decided a first set winner. That was important for me to get the set advantage. Even though I started poorly in the second, I still felt quite good on the court. I’m just really glad to win in three.” said the world no.1.

From Tomas

“Basically he didn’t start the second set that well, but then it was all me. I didn’t start the game well [talking about the 3-0 lead in the second set] with the new balls.  I just started with double fault. Then the whole game kept going bad.” said the Czech.

The semifinal vs. Del Potro

Nole will play a not 100% fit Del Potro in the semifinal. Head to head is 8-3 for Djokovic, but Del Potro won the last one (semifinal in this year Indian Wells) and their only match on grass (last year’s at the Olympics). Nole is the favorite.
