Surprising Federer will play 2 low key clay court tournaments in July!

That was (another) surprise for Roger!

Strange enough the Swiss Maestro added two tournaments on his schedules on clay in July… something really unexpected from the tennis community.

This decision came after the incredible upset the Maestro had to endure in Wimbledon second round against Stakhovsky.

Probably Roger had to add some more competitive tennis as he didn’t play much this year. It is also possible that being a natural winner, Federer wants some more titles to savour again the sweet taste of winning a tournament.

At the end of the day Rafa did the same in the first part of this year to stage a spectacular comeback.

So Roger will play the 500 ATP tournament in Hamburg the 15th of July (last year’s winner was Monaco) and the 250 ATP in Gstaad the 22nd of July (won by Bellucci in 2012).

From Roger

Both tournaments gave nice memories to the former world no.1. In fact, Gstaad was the first top tourmament he played in his career (in fact Roger tweet  ”gave me my first wild card in ’98!”) and he has won in Hamburg already 4 times.

Federer commented on Facebook “I am also looking forward to competing in Hamburg this summer. I always did very well at Rothenbaum, played some fantastic matches and celebrated important victories there – great memories!”

Time to get back for Roger? We hope so!
