Murray wins Wimbledon and makes history!

And finally Murray ended the drought as it took 77 year for British guy to win Wimbledon after the legenderay Fred Perry!

The match was a sort of a thriller even if it ended in straight sets. The athmosphere at the court was incredible. Everybody, but Nole’s family and a couple of Serbs, was for Murray. It seemed as the all nation was there to push Andy to the victory.

Both players displayed a very clean tennis with Murray being close to (his) perfection and Nole struggling to get to his 2011/2012 peaks (31 winners and 40 unforced errors), but still playing a wonderful tennis. To be honest there was a sense of “It’s time”.

So Andy won the opener 6-4 to rally from a 2-4 deficit in both sets (Nole is not happy about that). The third set was quite weird as Andy had an early 2-0 lead to then implode and concede 4 straight games to Nole. Time for Djokovic to implode and time for Murray to get 4 straight games, win the 3rd set and make history.

Murray: Different than last year

A very happy Scott said “It feels slightly different to last year. Last year was one of the toughest moments of my career. It was a tough match and an unbelievably long final game. I don’t know how I managed to come through. I’m just so glad.

“I understand how much everyone wanted to see a British winner at Wimbledon. I tried my best. I’ve played Novak many times. He’s going to go down as one of the biggest fighters. That made it extra tough; I just managed to squeeze through in the end.”

Djokovic: He deserved to win

“He was getting some incredible shots on the stretch and running down the drop shots. He was all over the court… When I was putting my first serves in he was always getting them back in the court and making me play an extra shot.

“That’s why he won this tournament. He played fantastic tennis, no question about it. He deserved to win.” said Nole

This is Andy’s 2nd slam.. at it seems that much more are about to come!
