Quinzi wins the boys title in Wimbledon!

Finally, a good news for the Italian tennis (talking about the males) as a youngster won the most prestigious title in the junior category.

Seeded no.6, Gianluigi Quinzi defeated the unseeded Chung, also 17, from South Korea in a tough match to win 7-5, 7-6 (2). The Italian had to recover a 3-5 deficit in the first set to win then 4 consecutive games. The 2nd set was decided only at the tie-break.

Gianluigi is now ranked world no. 404 (his career high was 398).

Even if winning the Juniores title in Wimbledon doesn’t give the certainty to become an ATP champion, it definitely gives a boost. Furthermore, you find yourself in good company as players such as Cash (1982), Edberg (1983), Monfils (2005), Dimitrov (2008) and Federer (1998!) won this title.

Good luck to Quinzi for a bright future!
