Finally Grigor had a very good match in Bastad to concede only 5 games to Pico Monaco.
The Bulgarian was coming from a couple of awkward matches in the first 2 rounds as he had to defeat the world no. 1032 in 3 sets (after losing the first) and then he took also 3 sets to defeat Volandri (ranked 101) in the second round.
So the test with Monaco (seed no.3 and world no.20) was an important one and Grigor passed the test in only 66 minutes.
The semis vs Verdasco
Grigor will play the semis against a very dangerous Verdasco that is coming back really strongly. Fernando reached the quarters in Wimbledon (lost to Murray) and now he has just defeated Almagro (seed no.2) 6-4 4-6 7-5.
This will be the first match between these two.
