Finally Fognini!
Fabio is arguably one of the most talented players on tour, but so far he had a little problem: he has never won a title. Fabio fixed that!
The Italian won his first career title defeating Kohlschreiber in 3 tough sets in more than 2 hours. Fabio played a great tennis, probably the best of his career.
Maybe one of his biggest problems was how he played the crucial points as he was able to convert only 5 break points out of 15 while Philipp converted 4 out of 5. But we are sure the Italian is happy as well.

A disappointed Kohlschreiber commented “It is always tough to lose in the final, especially in Germany in front of a home crowd.
Maybe it was not the best final ever, but intensity wise it was tricky. Fabio played a great tournament and I can also be happy. There was great support. I think I started badly in the second and third sets. After winning the first set, I should have been more relaxed.”
Fabio will get 250 points, 74.000 euros a brand new white Mercedes-Benz A 45 AMG… that was a nice week… isn’t it?
