Sascha Zverev is getting ready for the new season after a tough 2020

Sascha Zverev Training

Alexander Zverev had a rather adventurous and tough 2020. The German ace was slammed by social media for breaking his pledge to isolate after the Adria Tour. Then he split with his girlfriend Brenda Patea that later announced to the world that she remained pregnant with his baby. The day after Brenda’s public announcement, Zverev was slammed by another former girlfriend (Olya Sharypova), that accused him of domestic violence.

On court, Sascha had a huge blow after he was unable to serve-out the US Open against his dear friend Dominic Thiem when it appeared he was in control of the match. Already, reaching a slam final is a huge accomplishment, but losing in that way was a enormous disappointment for the German.

Later Sascha managed to win 2 back to back ATP250 titles in Cologne before reaching the final in Bercy.

Fortunately, the year ended well for Sascha that settled his lawsuit with his former agent Patricio Apey, a situation that was dragging on for about 2 years.

After he spent the off seasons for a couple of years with his (now former) girlfriends in paradisiac locations, Sascha seems to have opted for a more morigerate pre-season. The world no.7 posted a video of his training at the gym getting ready for the new season with the Australian Open at the top of his mind.

While it’s plausible that Sascha will not play any tournament before heading to Australia, he will prepare the first slam of the year training with Andrey Rublev in the first week of the quarantine in Melbourne.
