Federer wins a tough opener in Hamburg with the new racquet

Difficult match for Roger in Hamburg.

The Maestro was testing his new racket (larger head) and he certainly had a good test.
After losing the first set Roger had to rally to win the other two.  The good thing for Roger is that he didn’t have much trouble in the second and third set as he got an immediate lead in both of them.

From Roger

“I think it was good for me to have a tough match like this and come through at the end.

Clearly these kind of matches are always important, especially losing the first set makes things difficult. You’re not allowed to make many more unforced errors in crucial moments and I was able to come through and play better as the match went on. That’s always encouraging for the next round.”

Next vs.  Hajek

Roger will play the qualifier Jan Hajek that has upset Enrest Gulbis 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. This will be the first match between these two.
