Finally, we have the dates! The ATP has officialized the tournaments and the dates for the first 7 weeks of the impending season.
ATP250 Delray Beach and Antalya
All rumors have been confirmed. The season will start with the ATP250 in Delray Beach and one in Antalya. It is not a surprise that Delray Beach will manage to host the event. In fact, Florida is a place where many American players are training and therefore we expect to have a good line-up over there. Antalya is a bit of a surprise and there are possibilities that lower-ranked players will mainly take part in the event that will be staged on hard courts. The ATP has granted the license only for 1 year.
The Australian swing
The Australian Open’s qualifications will be played in Doha (10-13 January) and then the players will head to Melbourne as they need to quarantine (15-31 January).
In the week prior to the Australian Open (1st of February), the ATP Cup will be played with a reduced format of 12 teams. Alongside that, there will be 2 ATP250. One is the event that was originally planned in Adelaide that will be relocated to Melbourne and the other one is a newly sanctioned ATP250 still played in Melbourne.
The canceled tournaments
As per the original rumors, the tournaments in Pune, New York, and Auckland have been canceled. The ATP500 in Rio de Janeiro will not take place in February, but it might be postponed in the course of the year.
