Difficult times for Roger.
The Maestro has always had problems to his back since the very beginning. Apparently these problems date back even to 2003 when he won his first Wimbledon. In an interview Federer said that that fortnight was really tricky as he had to cope with huge emotions and some pain.

Now in a recent interview Roger says that he is still struggling with his back.
“Last week I had to fight with my shape and my game but maybe that’s what I needed. The back was not at his best, let’s say that is OK more or less, but I have to keep the situation constantly under control.
I couldn’t play as free as I wanted but I don’t want to pull out more too much about this topic. This season, until now, was a bit hard. I’m happy I made pretty well in Hamburg but I wish I played even better here.” said the Maestro.
Next vs. Brands
Roger will play Daniel Brands in his opener in Gstaad. The German has defeated Marco Chiudinelli 6-3 3-6 6-2. Roger and Daniel played each other only once and that was last week when Federer won 3-6 6-3 6-2.
