What a crazy semifinal in Umag.
Fabio Fognini was trashing Gael Monfils when he was leading 6-0 1-0 40-15 to then cope with a terrible comeback from the Frenchman. After scoring only 10 points in the first set, Gael fought back to win the second set… but then something incredible happened.
Fognini was leading 5-0 in the decider to face another unbelievable comeback from the Frenchman that, after saving 2 match points when he was 3-5 down, he grabbed a 6-5 lead to squander 3 match points!!!
Eventually they went to the tiebreak when Fognini recovered a 0-2 deficit to win it at 3.

“I started really solid at the beginning but slowed down in the second set. It will be my third final in a row, I will try to win. I am tired, but mentally I go for the third title.” said Fognini
The final vs. Robredo
Fabio will play Tommy Robredo in the final. Head to head is 3-1 for Robredo, 3-0 on clay.
This is going to be Fabio’s 3rd consecutive final and he has a clear shot to win his third consecutive title… no bad!
