ATP RANKINGS. Djokovic no.1, Thiem no.2, Nadal no.3. Sinner in top20 with the old system

Jannik Sinner would be already a top20 player with the old ranking systems. here the updates also about Djokovic, Thiem, Nadal, Federer

Djokovic And Thiem Rankings

The global pandemic has disrupted a lot of aspects of the tennis tours. The ATP and the WTA have tried to find some solutions to the confusion brought by the Coronavirus. One of their actions was to change their ranking system. Eventually, the ATP decided to change the ranking system using a 24 months’ logic. The system worked decently well even if some players benefited a bit too much from it (not their fault, of course).

Federer, Berrettini, Fognini and Sinner

Currently ranked no.5, Roger Federer would be no.29 with the “normal system.” The Swiss legend was not able to play any tournament anyway despite the pandemic since he had to endure 2 operations to his knee this year.

Currently ranked no.10, Berrettini would have been no.37 with the old system. Another Italian, Fabio Fognini, would be ranked no.89 (he is currently ranked no.17).

The 24 months’ ranking system proves to be rather taxing on the upcoming players. For example, Italian rising star Jannik Sinner would have been ranked no.20 with the traditional system while he’s now only the world no.37.

Djokovic, Thiem, Nadal

What about Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem and Rafael Nadal? Well, the Serbian champion would be no.1 also with the traditional rankings system. However, Dominic and Rafa would swap places in the rankings also because Dominic played many more tournaments than the King of Clay.

Here the top 30 with the “old ranking system.
