The world is currently mourning the sudden death of soccer legend Diego Maradona. El Pibe de Oro used to hit the headlines multiple times for his incredible success and controversial personal life to become a sheer legend. Unfortunately, Diego used to struggle for a long time with his addiction to cocaine that created many problems for his health. Eventually, he passed away after turning 60 on Wednesday.

Diego had a huge passion for tennis and he used to love to hang around with the best of the sport.

Rafael Nadal posted a lovely message on Twitter mourning the soccer legend as follows (translated):

“Today the world of sports in general and football in particular has a void. It left us one of the greatest athletes in history. What he did in football remains. My sincere and condolences to his family, the world of football and all of Argentina.”

Del Potro also wrote a heartfelt message of this idol compatriot:

“I feel that you return to the place that belongs to you, HEAVEN. For me you will never die. Rest in peace.”

Roger Federer was meant to meet Maradona during his successful tour in Latin America last year. However, Diego could not meet the Swiss legend as he was already struggling with his health. However, he released a video that made Federer extremely emotional.

“Hello Master, machine, like I call you. You were, you are, and will be the greatest. There is no other like you. I want you to know that if you have any kind of trouble in my country, you can call me and tell me what you need,” he said.
