The coronavirus pandemic has hurt the sports world in 2020. Many tennis players had to adjust their approach to the season after several tournaments were canceled. For Coco Gauff, the coronavirus pandemic made it difficult for her to build on her promising performances from the 2019 season. Coco won her first WTA singles title at the Linz Open last year, but her best run in a tournament in 2020 came at the Ostrava Open where she reached the round of 16. Unfortunately for the 16-year-old tennis star, the coronavirus epidemic appears to have caused a huge blow to her family’s restaurant business.

Coco’s father recently announced that the family would permanently close their restaurant

Coco’s father, Corey, recently announced that his family would permanently close down the Paradise Sports Lounge, which is located in Delray Beach, Florida. In their official statement, the restaurant’s management thanked their customers and employees for their loyal support over the years. However, they explained that the difficult operating environment occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic had made it impossible to continue running the business.

Coco’s family members flocked to the Paradise Sports Lounge to watch her incredible run at Wimbledon

Tennis fans have sympathized with the Gauff family for making the difficult decision to close the restaurant. During her run at Wimbledon last year, Coco’s family and friends gathered at the sports lounge to celebrate her incredible victories. The 16-year-old tennis star became the youngest player to qualify for the women’s Wimbledon draw, and she defeated Venus Williams in her first match, before proceeding to the fourth round where she lost to Simona Halep. Many journalists flooded the Paradise Sports Lounge to watch Coco’s family and community members celebrate her success. Unfortunately, the restaurant will no longer be in operation, but the decision to shut down the diner could be a blessing in disguise for the Gauff family.

Now that he will no longer be running the Paradise Sports Lounge, Corey could use his free time to concentrate on coaching his daughter. Tennis fans have in the past praised Coco’s parents for their dedication to their daughter’s tennis career. Corey, and his wife Candy, may have spent close to $100,000 a year to enroll Gauff into the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy. Corey also has a productive coaching relationship with his daughter. During the Linz Open last year, Corey guided the 16-year-old tennis star to the final, and he gave her daughter an inspiring pep talk during her match against Jelena Ostapenko, which enabled her to remain calm and claim her first singles title. While the Gauff family will be disappointed to be moving on from their restaurant business, they could reap some worthwhile benefits from concentrating on Coco’s career and ensuring that she fulfills her enormous potential.
