Stefanos Tsitsipas is a wonderful rarity in tennis. Greek tennis didn’t really have any status in our beloved sport until Stefanos (and then Maria Sakkari) managed to surprise anyone.
While it is straightforward to cheer for him right now, the Greek sensation can’t forget how difficult it has been for him and his family to get where he is right now. Stefanos basically grew up and he developed his tennis while Greece was suffering from a harsh financial downturn.
Besides the fact that money was really scarce in his family, Stefanos remembered that he was also suffering fro being constantly judged and discriminated when traveling just for being Greek.
“I felt like I was being judged although it was not really my fault, I had nothing to do with any of that. That was difficult for me as a kid. I always felt like a minority wherever I went and I wanted to prove them wrong, what they thought. And I think that also, in a way, made me stronger. Looking back, it just made me want to be better.”

Currently the world no.6, the Greek played his last match on the 19th of November when he was overcome by Rafael Nadal 6-4 4-6 6-2 in the round robin in the Nitto ATP Finals.
During this season Stefanos has 27-14 record. Tsitsipas has won 1 title in Marseille. Tsitsipas was the finalist in Dubai and in Hamburg.
