It’s Rafa no.8 in Barcelona!!!

The King of Clay made another 8! After winning his 8th title in Monte Carlo in 2012 Rafa catches up in Barcelona to win another tournament for the 8th time. This is Rafa’s 54th career title.

The final lasted 1 hour and 32 minutes with the world no.5 recovering a 0-3 and double break deficit in the first set to win the opener 6-4. The second set was an easier task for Rafa that broke Almagro once without even conceding a break point.

From Rafa

“I feel very happy to lift the trophy once again here in Barcelona. It means a lot especially after the difficult year I’ve had,” commented Nadal. “The conditions were very difficult today, especially in the first 6 games as it was raining a lot.”

From Almagro

“With the rain the ball got heavier and it wasn’t the same for me anymore. The speed went down and he was able to stay more in the point” added Almagro.
