Alexander “Sascha” Zverev stirred up the emotions of tennis fans after he made some indifferent remarks at the Paris Masters. Sascha is currently facing domestic violence accusations from his ex-girlfriend, Olga Sharypova. In an explosive interview with tennis journalist, Ben Rothenberg, Sharypova made some disturbing assertions about the alleged physical and mental abuse she suffered when she dated Sascha. However, after losing in the Paris Masters final to Daniil Medvedev last weekend, the German star dismissed his critics and declared that he would continue to enjoy his life.

Mischa Zverev recently declared that he would stick by his brother’s side

Many tennis fans were not happy with Sascha’s comments, and they took to social media to condemn the US Open finalist. However, the 23-year-old has received support from a close family member over the ongoing scandal with his ex-girlfriend. Mischa Zverev, Sascha’s older brother, recently gave an interview to address his sibling’s ongoing scandal. Mischa claimed that the accusations that his brother was facing had surprised him. However, the former world number 25 declared that he would stick by Sascha’s side and try to find the right solution to the scandal. Mischa is determined to play his role as a big brother and help Sascha deal with the domestic abuse allegations. However, fans have called for the ATP to launch an investigation into Sascha’s purported assault accusations and take disciplinary action against the German star if he is guilty.

The accusations from Olya Sharypova

During her interview, Sharypova claimed that Sascha had tried to strangle her using a pillow when the couple stayed at a hotel in New York last year. The 23-year-old managed to escape from her ex-boyfriend’s grasp and rushed out of the hotel before asking a friend to pick her up. However, Sharypova explained that she would later reconcile with Sascha after her friend’s stepmother convinced her to give the German star another chance. Unfortunately, the couple’s relationship worsened when they traveled to Geneva for the Laver Cup.

According to Sharypova, she contemplated suicide after another argument with Sascha led to the 23-year-old tennis star punching her in the face. She barricaded herself in the hotel’s bathroom after the incident and injected herself with a dose of insulin in an attempt to take her life. The Russian claimed that she attempted to commit suicide because of the mental anguish and lack of self-worth she had suffered from dating Sascha. Luckily, a tennis official managed to convince her to unlock the bathroom door, and she received emergency medical aid to save her life. While Sascha has denied Sharypova’s claims, his apparent lack of compassion while responding to the accusations at the Paris Masters may have ruined his reputation among many tennis fans.
