Felix Auger Aliassime and David Goffin didn’t have a smashing season. Of course, their year has been heavily affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. However, they were still expected to achieve more in 2020.

Felix Auger-Aliassime

The Canadian sensation is just 20 and he has a lot of time to achieve greatness. However, he was expected to win at least his first ATP title this year. Instead, once again, he lost 3 finals this year, like in 2019, to have a disappointing 0-6 record in ATP finals. As many pointed out, that also means that at his young age, he has already reached 6 prestigious finals (see details)

Felix was defeated in his last 3 matches, and eventually, he decided to end his great partnership with Guillaume Marx.

Felix released the following statement:

“I’ve recently decided to part ways with my long term coach Guillaume Marx. Our collaboration ends in the utmost integrity and respect for one another. In the last six years, I have had the chance to work with a coach that was passionate and devoted entirely to my career and the success of my project.

He helped me develop as a tennis player and a person regardless of the many challenges we faced along the way. He is a big reason why I’m now at this stage of my career and that’s why I think we can be proud of what we’ve accomplished together. On top of it all, he has taught me fundamental values that will serve me for the rest of my life. And that, for me, is priceless.

I will remember only positive memories of the moments we’ve shared and I take this opportunity to wish him all the success he deserves in his future projects. On my part, I will keep working with Frederic Fontang and the rest of my team.

Thank you for everything coach
I will be eternally grateful.”

David Goffin

David Goffin ended his relationship with his now-former coach Thomas Johansson after a couple of years. Unfortunately, they didn’t achieve much together as David managed to win no titles during their partnership and his best run at a slam was reaching the quarters in Wimbledon in 2019.

David released the following statement:

“After two years of working together, Thomas and I have decided to end our partnership. I would like to thank him for everything he has done for me and all the moments we have shared together. I wish him all the best for the future!”
