Madison Key on route to enter the Roland Garros main draw

The American tennis is struggling in the men’s department, but it’s kicking and alive in the women’s.

Sloane Stephens had a wonderful start of the year to become world no.16, but another young American is on the right path. Madison Key at 18 years of age is now ranked world no.77 (the youngest in the top 80) from world no.149 thanks to the quarters reached in Sydney and the third round in Melbourne. This means that she has great chances to enter the main draw in Paris

From Madison

“I think when you’re younger and you’re watching people play on TV, you always say that you want to be at the French Open, you want to be playing Grand Slams,” Keys said.

“But then actually being there doing it, it kind of blows you away thinking, Wow, I actually used to think maybe I could do that one day, and now I’m actually doing it.”

Talking about junk food

Madison had some “teenagerly” problem with junk food to comment “I don’t think my coach was very happy with how much I ate,” Keys said . “He knew it was a tough one. I do that maybe once every six months. So I definitely will not be doing that anytime soon.”

If she gets to the main draw in Paris… she may celebrate with a little croissant…
