Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner faced off for the 2nd time this month and it was the German ace to win the encounter in Cologne. The world no.7 crashed out from the French Open at the hands of the young Italian and he was very well aware of the challenge he was about to face in the semifinal in Germany. Eventually, Sascha won in straight sets after recovering from a 1-4 deficit in the opening set. Sinner looked hampered in his movement from a plausible abdominal injury in the second set.
Jannik Sinner, a top10 player
After the match, Zverev revealed that he was concerned about facing Jannik again after his demise in Paris. He also added that he expects the Italian to break in the top10 relatively soon and compete for the big trophies.
“He is an up and coming superstar. I think he is going to be Top 10 very shortly. I think he is going to be competing for the biggest tournaments in the world,” said the world no.7.
I was playing a player I just lost at Roland Garros. That was still in the back of my head. I was not going to lose today,” he added.
Jannik Sinner in Vienna
Jannik will head to Vienna, where he received a well-deserved wildcard. Currently ranked no.46, the Italian will be the new world no.43 from next week (career-high). Jannik is now a dangerous floater in every tournament until he will have a rank that reflects his tennis. He will face Casper Ruud in the first round in Austria. If Jannik is not injured, our prediction is him winning in straight sets
