Tommy Haas will not retire any soon

This edition of the Sony Open had a couple of great points… maybe the best was Haas’ tournament as Tommy (not a teenager anymore) reached the semifinals also defeating Novak Djokovic in the 4th round 6-2 6-4.

The German is definitely one of the most talented players around and at 34 years of age he is still very competitive at he highest levels. The good news is that Tommy doen’s have any intention or plan to retire to comment…

“I will try to continue as long as I can, because this is a lot of fun. In the end of the day, the most joyful time I have is when I’m on the court playing great tennis, entertaining the crowd, playing in front of the big, on the big stadiums.

Those moments are what you dream about when you’re a young kid, you know. You have these imaginations playing at the big tournaments and going out there and competing hard.”

No plans for the future

“I don’t know yet exactly what I’m going to do.” he added

“Obviously I have played with in my mind, you know, the thought of what would I do, and there are things that really interest me. And obviously it’s probably going to be tennis involved and some things that I’m really eager to do maybe even still after my career, and hopefully some of those dreams will come true, as well.”

Bollettieri’s opinion

Bollettieri had also nice world about Haas saying to the ATPWorldTour.com “Only a few people in life can come back to a one-on-one sport the way Tommy has,”

“There’s nobody protecting you. It’s not like a team sport where you can hide. You can’t do that in tennis. I’ve had two students do it: Andre Agassi and now Tommy.

“I would say coming back like he has is what the world will remember over him being the World No. 2. He was counted out, had operations, had to get wild cards, enter qualifying. This is more impressive. He’s shown it ain’t over till it’s over. He was counted out as an old man, so the way he’s come back is even more incredible.”

Great!!!
