Naomi Osaka the three-time Grand Slam singles champion, and the reigning champion at the US Open and Cordae have been rumoured to be dating for quite some time.

Naomi Osaka and American rapper and singer Cordae Amari Dunston have been rumored to be dating for quite some time. Although the love birds have been together for more than 18 months, they have been discreet about it. But fans are happy because they do not shy away from posting their lovey doves pictures on their social media platforms. Their relationship has been under the scanner when he posed with a middle finger after Naomi won the US Open. Fans go gaga whenever they post a picture together.

Who is Naomi Osaka’s rapper boyfriend? 

Cordae is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter who gained popularity by releasing remixes of popular songs, such as “My Name Is” by Eminem, and “Old Niggas” which was a response to the song “1985” by J. Cole, Cordae is rumored to be releasing a full album really soon. His last collaboration with Roddy Rich ‘Gifted’ was loved by fans which he released in August in his birthday month. In 2019, he scored two Grammy nominations for his debut solo album, The Lost Boy. He started rapping when he was just 15 and joined the hip hop group YBN IN 2018. Cordae revealed in a radio interview that both of them met at a Los Angeles Clippers game.

Recently, Cordae took Naomi on an intimate date on a private island. Naomi posted a video showing the world how he makes her feel special. They are spending their vacation near the sea with a private dinner setting with rose petals showered all around them and Naomi caressing his cheeks with her hands. While posting the video she captioned that she felt like she is in a movie. Live music was especially played for her.

The power couple has also been activists for the black lives matter movement. During the 2020 U.S. grand slam championship Naomi wore customized masks in support of the movement. In each of the 7 matches, she wore a black mask with the name of a victim of police brutality. Breonna Taylor, Elijah McClain, Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, George Floyd, Philando Castile, and Tamir Rice, she wore the name of these 7 victims of racial prejudice as a form of protest. She represents Japan and later she went on to win the championship.

 

She wrote on Twitter ”Before I am an athlete, I am a black woman. And as a black woman, I feel as though there are much more important matters at hand that need immediate attention, rather than watching me play tennis,”

After the championship when she was asked  what message she was trying to give by wearing the mask she said: “I feel like the point is to make people start talking.”

Naomi plays for Japan and she is one of the most recognized personalities there. She has a Japanese mother and a Haitian father. She may represent Japan but she lives in Los Angeles and has become the face of a changing Japan coming to terms with challenges to its self-image as a racially homogenous society.

During the tournament, Cordae was seen supporting his girlfriend and also wearing a T-shirt with the slogan DEFUND THE POLICE. He was also arrested for protesting outside the house of attorney general Daniel Cameron. Cordae was arrested after refusing to leave the property once Cameron asked law enforcement to remove protestors. He was charged with intimidating a participant in the legal process, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespassing. He was protesting about the murder of Breonna Taylor.

Cordae had said in an interview that he did not know much about tennis before meeting Naomi. He only knew of Serena Williams when it comes to Tennis. But now he is often seen on stands supporting his girlfriend. He has also started playing tennis now.
