Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev are going to play and be the favorites of the last Master ATP1000 of the season in Bercy (Paris). Novak Djokovic is not expected to compete in Paris since he cannot add any points to his rankings. For this reason, the Serbian champion is scheduled to play in Vienna, where he has no points to defend.
Conversely, Nadal agreed to play in Bercy, where he reached the semifinals last year before conceding a walk over to Denis Shapovalov.
Prize Money
The prize money in Bercy will be sensibly reduced from last year’s. The good news is that there is still an ongoing effort to help the players that are struggling the most from a financial point of view. Therefore, this year, the winners, finalists, and the players reaching the semifinals and quarters (singles) will earn considerably less than in 2019. On the other side, the players crashing out in the earlier rounds in Bercy will get a more generous check than the one perceived in 2019.
It seems a rather good move to reduce the finalist’s prize money (singles) by 70%. Earning more than 300,000 Euros is still pretty good.
