Ferrer beats Melzer to reach the semis in Miami

David survives a tricky match in the quarterfinals. Previously ranked no.8, Melzer is currently world no.42, but he is still very capable of create big problems to everybody.

Ferrer didn’t play very well in the first set to start to recover in the second. After splitting sets, Melzer collapsed in the the 3rd to win only 9 points. The match ended after 1 hour and 55 minutes  4-6 6-3 6-0.

The Austrian committed 11 double faults on 12 service games.

“I was a little bit nervous in the first set and part of the second,” said David. “But I tried to fight every point, to be focused and I had a good feeling in the final of the second set and of course in the third one.”

Next vs. Haas

Divid will play a super Tommy Haas that has defeated back to back Djokovic and then Simon 6-3 6-1. Head to head is 2-0 for the Spaniard.
