After a rather hectic 2 weeks dominated by the Roland Garros, we are back to the “normal” Tours.
While there are not WTA events this week, we have 3 ATP tournaments. The most important one is St. Petersburg, which has been updated from an ATP250 to an ATP500 sanctioned event. Also, the tennis fans in Cologne and Sardinia will have the opportunity to see 2 new ATP250
Among the top players that will compete this week, we have Daniil Medvedev, Denis Shapovalov, Andrey Rublev, Karen Khachanov and Stan Wawrinka that are playing in St. Petersburg and Alexander Zverev that is about to compete at the ATP250 in Cologne along his brother Mischa
The Italian fans lost the opportunity to watch Jannik Sinner in action as he was prevented from competing in Russia because of a stomach issue. However, Lorenzo Musetti will play in Sardinia, where he will face Pablo Cuevas in a finger-licking 1st round.

Denis Shapovalov in 2020
Now the world no.11, Shapovalov played his last match on the 1st of October when he capitulated to Roberto Carballes Baena 7-5 6-75 6-3 3-6 8-6 in the 2nd round of the French Open.
Denis Shapovalov’s best result of the current season was reaching the semi-finals in Rome.
Daniil Medvedev and Denis Shapovalov played each other 3 times. The head to head is 2-1 for Shapovalov. The last time that they fought against each other, Daniil Medvedev won 6-3 6-3 in the semifinal in Tokyo (Rakuten Japan Open) in October 2018.
Andrey Rublev in 2020
Now ranked no.12 (career-high), Andrey played his last match on the 7th of October when he was defeated by Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-5 6-2 6-3 in the quarter of the French Open.
Presently, this year the Russian has a 29-7 win-loss record. Andrey has won 3 titles in 2020 in Doha, in Adelaide and in Hamburg.
Alexander Zverev in 2020
Now ranked no.7, Zverev played his last match on the 4th of October when he capitulated to Jannik Sinner 6-3 6-3 4-6 6-3 in the 4th round of the French Open.
Alexander Zverev’s best result of the present year was getting to the final at the U.S. Open.
Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev played each other 4 times. The head to head is 4-0 for Zverev. The last time that they played each other, Alexander Zverev won 6-4 6-4 6-4 in the 4th round in Melbourne (Australian Open) on the 27th of January 2020.
