Novak Djokovic had yet another adventurous match against Pablo Carreno Busta. The Serbian legend defaulted when he played against the Spaniard during the recent US Open and things were going south also during the Roland Garros. Unfortunately, Novak had some problems during the warm-up that preceded his match against Pablo Carreno Busta and he got injured to his neck. During the match, Novak had to receive medical attention also for a problem to his left arm.
Pablo didn’t take it nicely to accuse the world no.1 of calling a trainer every time he is losing to break the rhythm of his opponent.
However, Mats Wilander didn’t agree with that statement. According to the 7-time grand slam champion, Novak’s injury is serious and he thinks that the world no.1 is trying to play down his issue.
“I don’t think he wants to show his opponent that he is feeling an injury. It’s a legitimate injury that’s going to be there, and if he doesn’t get a good start then that could be a problem.
Clearly, it took him some time to warm his body yesterday, and that’s going to be the same tomorrow, and again in the final. I think Novak’s injury is a big worry. He obviously doesn’t want to show his opponent that he is injured walking onto the court,” said Wilander on Eurosport.
Novak will face Stefanos Tsaitsipas in the semifinal. They played each other 5 times. The head to head is 3-2 for Djokovic. The last time that they competed against each other, Novak Djokovic won 6-3 6-4 in the final in Dubai (Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships) on the 29th of February 2020.
