Super Del Potro upsets Djokovic to reach the final in Indian Wells

What a match from Juan Martin! The Argentine defeated Murray in the quarters to dispatch another big 4, the biggest, in the semifinal.

Delpo finally managed to interrupt Nole’s 22 matches winning streak. Juan Martin came back from the brink as he had to rally from a 0-3 games deficit in the third set.

“I was doing a very good match until the third set, but Novak had the chance to beat me when I was down 3-Love,” said Delpo. “But I came back soon and that gave me a little confidence to come back in that set. Then also the crowd wanted to watch more tennis and  helped me to play my best tennis in the end. I think it was my best match in this tournament, for sure.”

Nole

Djokovic is the world no.1 and maybe one of the best players in tennis history to handle tough losses. After the match he immediately smiled at the net while hugging Juan Martin to then comment

“All the credit to my opponent today. He deserved to win because he was more composed in the important moments and he played the right shots. He stepped into the court, where, on the other side, I made a lot of unforced errors and was at the back of the court too passive.”

The final vs. Nadal

Juan Martin will play Rafa in the final. Head to head is 7-3 for Rafa that won the last 3. But on hard court they are 3 all. The head to head in Indian Wells in 2-0 for Rafa.

It’s difficult to make a prediction as Rafa doesn’t look to be at his very best, but that seems to be just enough after beating an inspired Gulbis, Federer and a super fit and confident Berdych. On the other side, Delpo is playing amazing tennis, but he should be dead tired after this marathon with Nole.

It is going to be really interesting.
