What an epic match!!!
Francesca Schiavone won a match that is even difficult to comment. It was something ridiculous.
Schiavone won the first set 6-4 and she lost the second one by 1-6. The second set was already something weird because even if result was one sided, it lasted more than 50 minutes!.
Then we got to the history of women tennis. Although Kuznetsova had a clear upper hand for the firs part of the last set, Francesca Schiavone managed to stay close. Funny enough the more the match was progressing the better was the quality of the tennis.
Kuznetsova looked much more in control, but the immense drive of the Italian made the life really hard for the Russian.
Amazingly Francesca Schiavone managed to save 6 match points. The game of both players was getting better and better: it was just unreal seeing Kuznetsova hitting winners with ‘jumping back-hands’ after 4 hours! On the other side Schiavone was doing the possible, the impossible and the unbelievable running after every single ball (and she is 30!) and doing incredible winners
Eventually the match ended with Schiavone attacking the Russian as much as she could.
Finally she made it: It was 16-14 and …. you do not win the Roland Garros by chance…
It was great fun!
