Danielle Rose Collins is well-known for being an incredibly tough opponent that rides on high emotions during her matches. The American sensation had one of her strange episodes when facing Sofia Kenin in the quarter-finals of the Roland Garros.
Collins vs. her boyfriend’s seat
The world no.57 started to yell something at her boyfriend, asking him to change the seat. “Sit in a different spot. Sit in a different spot. I’m distracted,” she shouted. That left everybody baffled. It was also not clear is she was yelling at her new coach Nico Almagro or somebody else. Well, later, it was confirmed that it was her boyfriend the target.
During the press conference that followed her loss, Danielle explained what happened:
“I had my boyfriend move to a different spot because I was distracted by something in front of him. I just wanted to be able to look at him from a different location.
Sometimes too when I was serving the ball, I could see my team in the background, and I didn’t like that,” she said.
Then she added that she wanted him to just move to another location. Also she added that she doesn’t like it when her team is sitting behind her as she gets distracted. That’s a tough one for them.
UPDATE: Tom Couch was "spotted" just before Danielle Collins forced a third set vs. Sofia Kenin.
Collins erased a break deficit, ultimately rallying to take the second, 6-4.
