Tsitsipas And Djokovic

Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas are going to clash in a blockbuster semifinal at the French Open. Stefanos Tsitsipas seems to be in sublime form during this major. He won an overcomplicated 1st round against clay-court specialist Jaume Antoni Munar Clar after trailing 2-sets-down. Then the Greek sensation didn’t drop a single set in his rush to the semifinal.

Novak Djokovic seemed to be also in ominous form, especially in the first 4 matches, to leave peanuts to his opponents. However, things got a bit complicated against Pablo Carreno-Custa as the Serbian sensation had to win in 4 sets after losing the opener and struggling with injuries.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, a great player

During the press conference that followed Novak’s quarterfinal, the world no.1 was obviously asked to express an opinion about his next opponent.

“He’s one of the best players in the world. [He is] deservedly where he is in rankings. He’s been playing tennis of his life in the last 12 months, winning the World Tour Finals and just being very very consistent on all surfaces with his results. He’s got an all-round game; he’s a big guy [with a] a big serve. He has weapons obviously: serve and forehand.

He’s a backhand he produces a lot of spin and he can come into the net. He can play aggressively; he can defend well because he moves well. So he’s really a complete all-round player.

Stefanos, his father and Serena Williams’ coach

Then Novak added that the Greek sensation can rely on an excellent coaching team. He is helped not only by his father Apostolos, but also by Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratolgou that is one of the best coaches in the world and runs an extremely successful Academy in the south of France.
