Iga Swiatek is about to play the French Open semifinal, where she is now considered the favorite. The teenager hasn’t conceded much to her opponents during the competition to also stun the seed no.1 Simona Halep with an incredible 6-1 6-2 win. Here a brief bio about Iga.
Swiatek’s origins, family, and coach
Iga was born on the 31st of May 2001 in Warsaw to Tomasz Swiatek, a rower who participated in the Seoul Olympics back in 1988. While it is not clear her mother’s identity, it is known that Iga has a sister Agata that, after trying some swimming, started to play tennis at ITF level. Unfortunately, Agata had to stop playing tennis as she was struggling with injuries, but Iga picked the passion from her.
Iga hasn’t won a WTA tournament yet, but she has 7 ITF titles under her belt. She is currently coached by Piotr Sierzputowski that is also from Warsaw.
At the moment, there are no reports about Iga dating any boyfriend.
Next vs. Podoroska
Swiatek will face Nadia Podoroska for a place in the Roland Garros final. They have never played each other so far.
