Sharapova beats Kirilenko to reach the final in Indian Wells

Great stuff for Maria Sharapova that had to battle to defeat Kirilenko in straight sets.

Eventually the match ended after 1 hour and 42 minutes after Sharapova broke Kirilenko 3 times to save all 6 break points conceded.

From Sharapova

“I’ve known Maria [Kirilenko] since we were little girls so there are no secrets out there on court,” said the Russian beauty. “It’s always tough to play against someone when you have played so many tournaments together.

“I started to serve better in the second set and that gave me a few free points. She gets so many balls back and likes to play those long points. My job was to be more aggressive than usual.”

The final vs. Wozniacki

Maria will play Caroline Wozniacki in the final (2-6 6-4 7-5 on Angelique Kerber). Head to head is 6-2 for Sharapova.
