Martina Trevisan is having the tournament of her life at the current French Open, playing the best tennis of her life. The upcoming Italian started her journey in Paris from the qualification reaching the last 8 after beating the likes of Coco Gauff, Maria Sakkari and Kiki Bertens on the way. Martina also has a rather interesting story to share.
Trevisan’s bio and her struggle with anorexia
The 26-year-old was born in Florence (Italy) on the 3rd of November 1993 to Claudio and Martina Trevisan. Sport is in the blood of the family. Her father used to play soccer at a professional level in the Italian second league (Serie B) while her mother is a tennis coach. Martina has an older brother, Matteo, that is also a professional tennis player. There are no official reports about Martina dating anyone. However, going through her Instagram, a mystery man appeared and that should be her boyfriend.
Injuries and battling anorexia
Unfortunately, Martina was sidelined for 5 years (2010-2014) because of a string of injuries and also because she was fighting anorexia. Martina was shocked by the separation of her parents to get sick.
“I was sick and I didn’t understand why. Above all, I was afraid to say it. I felt I was no longer able to handle what was going on around me. The pressures on my performance, the problems in the family,” revealed Martina.
“Thinking back now, I should have stopped and got off: maybe I wouldn’t have gotten sick. But it was all going so fast, and I was a teenager. Who suddenly felt crushed by an enormous weight. Which didn’t even go away when I decided to quit,” she added.
Eventually, Martina found her way, and she now has an incredible shot at reaching the semifinals at the Roland Garros.
