Stefanos Tsitsipas has always stated that his father Apostolos is a key figure for his tennis career. Stefanos’ father has been coaching the Greek sensation since the very beginning of his great career and they share a fantastic relationship. However, this coach-father role has not been functioning very well in the last few months.
Earlier this year, during the ATP Cup in Australia, Stefanos inadvertently wounded his father during an on court outburst prompting the ire of his own mother. A few weeks ago, during his match at the US Open against Borna Coric, Stefanos was immensely frustrated to vigorously scream at his father: “You don’t know.”
Apostolos not in Rome, but in Hamburg
It was impossible not to notice that Apostolos was not with Stefanos during the following Internazionali d’Italia in Rome. That tournament ended pretty badly for Stefanos as he lost in his first match against Jannik Sinner playing lousy tennis.
Eventually, Apostolos was back with Stefanos at the current ATP500 in Hamburg where things are going much better for the Greek sensation that is now in the final in Germany.
